  REVIEW:

Hot Fuzz . . . the long awaited documentary on laundry room lint?  No!

Simon Pegg stars as Sergeant Nicholas Angel who just so happens to be London's most outstanding cop. His record is way better than anyone else’s, including the Chief Inspector. Sergeant Nicholas Angel becomes an embarrassment because he is making all the other cops look bad. But, of course there is a solution....reassign him to a remote little town where he can't damage their reputations. Nick Frost plays a want-to-be cop in this little town and is assigned as Angel's new partner. He wants to be just like the big city cops with fast car chases, shooting guns up in the air, and pretty much anything else that happens in all the great cop movies. Before too long, strange accidents start to happen in the little town. These accidents are actually brutal murders. There are many in the town that will do anything to keep the cause of the murders a secret, but it's Angel and his new partner to the rescue and there's all the action either one of them can handle.

So, “British” and “comedy” normally go together about as well as “country” and “music.”  But, in all fairness, Hot Fuzz has its moments.  There's definitely some cleverness (perhaps they imported it!); there's some funny physical comedy, some satire, and some parody that's all pretty funny.  Hot Fuzz has also got some good action scenes and its fair share of gratuitous violence.  The big issue with it, though, is that it's actually got too much – the movie seems to go on for WAY too long, making it not for everyone.

  MOVIE NIGHT TRAFFIC LIGHT:

On the Movie Night Traffic Light on a scale of GREEN meaning “Go – it’s a must see”, YELLOW meaning “Caution – it’s okay” and RED meaning “No - stop don’t do it."

We rate Hot Fuzz YELLOW .  Caution - this one is not going to appeal to everyone.
